- Striking The Archive
- Striking the Archive (2025), 14” disc, forged copper gong LP record, turntable, gong hanger, mallet, acoustic gut string
- Striking the Archive (2025) is a self-forged copper gong cut as an LP record, a self-reflexive piece in which the same resonant strike can be heard either by striking with a mallet or by playing its grooves on a turntable. Tracing the metallurgical history of archiving from the gong to the Direct Metal Mastering, the project positions both as sonic media that preserve and transmit historical memory through forging and inscription. As a synthesized object of instrument and record, Striking the Archive reenacts history through contact, re-sounding the archive’s agency in our present, where the past returns audible.
